Each year, beginning or mid- September, Switzerland Convention and Incentive Bureau (SCIB) organises their annual networking event for event planners. This evening is always highly anticipated because each time they have a theme! Three years ago they celebrated 50 years with a BBQ at the Hoxton Shoreditch Hotel, last year it took place at the Victorinox Flagship Store on Bond Street and this year the event was around their latest #SwissFormula campaign about the science of great meetings and took place at White Space in Covent Garden.
Suppliers who attended this year included Swiss Airlines, Zurich Tourism, Grand Resort Bad Ragaz and St. Gallen – Bodensee region, Hotel Les Trois Rois Basel, Geneva Tourism, Bern Tourism and Villars-Gryon – Les Diablerets region.
To encourage networking with the suppliers, each supplies had two questions and we had to find out the answers by speaking with them and getting to know the destination better. Some questions were updates on the destination, for example, Swiss are going to introduce new route from February from London City to Sion to get closer to ski destinations, and other questions were just fun fact to learn about Switzerland, such as, Basel, the cultural capital of Switzerland has 204 fountains, Swiss person eats on average 12kg of chocolate per year(!) or that activities you can incorporate into your event in St. Gallen – Bodensee region include cheese tasting, wine tasting and wine tours or chocolate making. This activity was fun and educating about the destination and someone won a two night stay at the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz for answering all the questions correctly.
