Event technology Start-Ups Compete at the Event-Tech Challenge Pitching Competition

Following my previous article on evolution and adoption of event technology by corporate event planners, I’m happy to share with you this post about the Event-Tech Challenge Pitching Competition I attended as part of the London Technology Week on 19th June at the start-up hub Rainmaking Loft. The event was brilliantly organised by Event Professional Meetup powered by Pickevent, an events network for attendees, speakers and event organisers.

In total 16 event-tech companies presented their event management solutions to the three savvy judges in a two minutes pitch. The judges were Adam Parry, Editor at Event Industry News, Jane Hague, President ISES UK and Head of Corporate Account Development at ExCeL London, and Michael Oakes, Head of Programmes EMEA at The Economist.

The ideas presented ranged from effectively planning and promoting events to attracting attendees, selling more tickets or gathering data and generating leads. Some of the pitching companies were the established Cvent and DoubleDutch while others, such as evvnt were among the new industry entrants. I’m sure the decision for the judges wasn’t easy but in the end they awarded:

Glownet –  Glownet empowers festival promoters with the latest RFID technology, delivers transparency and control.

evvnt – a platform that helps local event marketers and promoters across the globe to market their event quickly and effectively.

Tixboo – Tixboo’s Buzz Pricing helps event organisers sell more tickets and make more money.

Honourable mentions were received by: CatchTalkTV, DoubleDutch and Forge Special Projects.

The event was followed by lively and informal networking with beers, wine, pizza and a World Cup football match as well was an unofficial #EventHour meetup.

The event was supported by Event Industry News, Rainmaking Loft, Digital Impact Awards, Event Tech Live and The Event Technology Awards.
