Two years ago we were on holidays in Avignon and I fell in love with this region. The sun, food and wine, culture, long bicycle rides and the beautiful and peaceful scenery made us prolong our stay. With my event planner hat on, I thought that it would be a perfect destination for a corporate event.
Indeed, Avignon, which is part of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region is a major MICE destination in south of France. The destination includes world famous Arles, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille and Saint Tropez, to mention a few. The region, which is famous for aromatic lavender fields, sandy beaches, perched villages and little fishing ports and of course vineyard and gastronomy, has an attractive and varied MICE offer for all size and budget.
Last week I attended “Best of Provence” event at the Savoy Hotel where event planners could meet, learn and network with over 50 MICE suppliers from the region. Suppliers included Convention Bureaux, Tourist Offices, DMCs, Congress Centres, hotels, venues and transport providers.
When planning events oversees it’s important to look at the entire region to see all the opportunities available for the event. I was very impressed by the tight collaboration between the regional suppliers and how hard they work to promote themselves as a destination, making it very attractive for MICE business.
